Manage items and media (Resource Manager)
The Items and Media tabs show details about items, such as barcode, district identifier, status, condition, and home location. You can manage the items/media at your location, including unbarcoded items.
- Select Catalog > Resource Search.
- Search for a resource.
- From the search results, click Details next to the correct description record.
- If the resource is hardware or textbooks, click the Items tab; if it is software, click the Media tab.
- Use the following table to complete your task:
If you want to… Then… View digital content Click to view a file or URL related to an item.
Include items in a container Click
. The Update Included Items page appears.
Update assignments (for software licenses) Click . The Update Assignments page appears.
Create a help ticket Click
. The Create Help Ticket page appears.
Note: If Destiny Help Desk is enabled for your district, and the resource type of the item is IT/Technology, click
. The New Help Desk Request page appears in Destiny Help Desk. See Submit a request.
Edit an item Click
. The Edit Item/Media page appears.
Edit components Click
. The Components page appears.
Update digital content Click
. The Update Digital Content page appears.
Duplicate a resource Click
. The Add/Edit Item/Media page appears.
Delete a resource Click

Manage unbarcoded items
You can add unbarcoded items to a resource description which has an instructional classification that makes barcoding the items optional. In those instances, you can add or remove barcodes, mark them lost or found, and delete them from the Items tab of the resource description record.
- Select Catalog > Resource Search.
- Search for a resource.
- When you find the resource you want, click Details.
- From an item’s resource details, click the Items tab.
- From the Group by drop-down, select Status.
- Use the following table to complete your task:
If you want to… Then… Remove barcodes from items - Next to Available, click Show More.
- Click Remove Barcodes.
- In the Quantity to Unassign field, enter the number of items to unbarcode.
- Type the first barcode number.
- Click Remove.
Assign barcodes to items - Next to Available, click Show More.
- Click Assign Barcodes.
- In the Items to Barcode field, specify how many items to barcode.
- Either type the first barcode number, or let Destiny automatically assign the next available barcode.
- To print labels, select the Print labels checkbox.
- Complete other fields as needed.
- Click Assign.
Mark items as Lost - Next to Available, click Show More.
- Click Lost.
- In the Items to mark Lost field, type the number of items to mark lost.
Note: You can only mark unbarcoded items “lost” this way. - Click Mark Lost.
Delete items Note: If you are a district user, use the district-level instructions. - Next to the Available or Lost group, click Show More.
- In the Items without barcodes section, click
.
- In the Items to delete field, type the number of items you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
Mark Lost items Found - Next to Lost, click Show More.
- Scroll to the Items without barcodes section, and then click Found.
- In the Items to make Available field, type the number of items found.
- Click Found.
Delete unbarcoded items (district level)
As a district user, you can delete unbarcoded material at the district level.
- Select Catalog > Resource Search.
- Search for a resource.
- When you find the resource you want, click Details.
- From an item’s resource details, click Items.
- From the Group by drop-down, select Site.
- Find the group you want to work with, and then click Show More.
- In the Items without barcodes section, click
.
- In the Items to delete field, type the number of items you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
