Configure OAuth consumers

OAuth provides a method for users of both Destiny and the Aspen® Student Information System to securely access Destiny resources through Aspen.

This enables a user to log in to Aspen and access Destiny resources without having to also log in to Destiny.

To create a consumer of Destiny:

  1. Log in as a Destiny Administrator.
  2. From the District View, select the Applications menu Applications menu. > Setup.
  3. Click the District Options tab.
  4. Next to OAuth Consumers, click Edit. The OAuth Consumers page appears.
  5. Enter a name in the Add Consumer field.
  6. Click Save. Destiny creates a Consumer Key and a Consumer Secret.
  7. Manually copy the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret values, and then paste them onto the corresponding configuration page in Aspen (District view, Admin > Security > OAuth Access).

Once an Aspen system administrator completes the setup, Aspen can access Destiny using behind-the-scenes access tokens instead of requiring user credentials.
